Films, Flora, Football and a Fundraiser Run
The weekend kicks off tonight, Thursday, April 26, with the National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY) at the Cinerama Theatre. The festival features films by directors who are all under the age of 22. Saturday the University of Washington will hold its annual Husky Football Spring Game at the CenturyLink Field. Also on Saturday and Sunday, it’ll be a plant lovers’delight at the annual FlorAbundance Plant Sale in the Washington Park Arboretum. With free admission and parking, the sale features a wide selection of choice, locally-grown plants and raises much needed funds for the park. Sunday morning 3,500 runners will participate in the Top Pot Doughnut Dash around Green Lake which benefits Childhaven.
Thursday, April 26
NFFTY Opening Night: 7:30 p.m.
Cinerama Theater (Fourth Avenue and Lenora Street);
900 expected ;
Attendees will use the east curb lane along Fourth Avenue for drop-off and pick-up at event.
Saturday, April 28
Top Pot Doughnut Dash: 8:30 a.m
Green Lake Park, and on streets adjacent to the Park
Run starts and finishes near the Green Lake Community Center and basketball courts; run will be clockwise around Green Lake, partly on street, partly on park trails. Expect congestion on streets surrounding the lake.
University of Washington Annual Husky Football Spring Game: 1 – 3 p.m. (Gates open at 11:30 a.m.)
Reminder: SR 520 is closed this weekend, so motorists should plan accordingly and also expect congestion in the areas around the stadium.
Saturday and Sunday, April 28 and 29
FlorAbundance Plant Sale: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Sunday
Washington Park Arboretum
1900 (Saturday) and 900 (Sunday) attending
Expect congestion in the park. Arboretum Drive E will be open one way, going southbound. Shoppers will be able to park on the west side of the drive and in the Arboretum lots. Shuttle vans will be running along Arboretum Drive and looping around Lake Washington Boulevard to bring folks to and from their cars. The vans will pick up passengers along the drive and from the Boyer Parking Lot. They will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.
