Crews working on the Seattle Department of Transportation’s project to repave N.E. Ravenna Blvd. between E. Green Lake Drive N. and 15th Avenue N.E. are scheduled to begin paving between E. Green Lake Drive N. and Eighth Avenue N.E. starting April 23.
Crews will lay new asphalt surface along N.E. Ravenna Boulevard on the westbound lanes from N.E. 71st Street to Eighth Avenue N.E. beginning Monday, April 23. The westbound lanes are scheduled to be complete by April 24. The intersection at E. Green Lake Drive N. is scheduled for paving on April 24 and the eastbound lanes are scheduled to be paved on April 25. Paving work is expected to be complete by the end of the week, weather permitting.
Drivers and residents can expect each section of the road to be closed during the paving process, along with driveway and side-street closures because vehicles will be unable to drive across the fresh pavement for two to four hours. A signed detour will direct drivers and bicyclists around the street closures.
Work is expected to be completed by the end of summer, dependent on weather conditions.
To minimize construction impacts, work has been divided into two phases. Phase one is on N.E. Ravenna Boulevard between Green Lake and I-5 (from E. Green Lake Drive N. to Eighth Avenue N.E.). Crews began work on the westbound side of Ravenna in late March. Phase two will run on N.E. Ravenna Boulevard from I-5 to 15th Avenue N.E. (from Eighth Avenue N.E. to 15th Avenue N.E.). Crews will similarly begin work on the westbound side of the street and then move to the eastbound side of the street.
