This weekend, SDOT will close the First Avenue NW intersection at NW 85th Street to rebuild the north and south travel lanes in concrete. The intersection will be completely closed to traffic in all directions from 7 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday.
In addition to the work at First Avenue NW, some concrete road panels between First Avenue NW and Palatine Avenue N will also be poured on Saturday. NW 85th Street between Third Avenue NW and Greenwood Avenue N will remain open for local access to businesses and residences, but will be closed to through traffic with detours in place for vehicles.
The eastbound detour will remain in effect on NW 85th Street between 15th Avenue NW and Eighth Avenue NW.
The contractor will work 24 hours per day throughout the weekend. Drivers should expect congestion, allow extra time for travel, and follow clearly marked detour routes to avoid shortcuts using neighborhood streets.
Some Metro bus routes will be affected by this work – look for Rider Alert notices at the bus stops, see reroute information later this week on Metro Online www.kingcounty.gov/metro or call (206) 553-3000.
