Hoping for a lucky Friday the 13th tomorrow, 45,000 fans will be on hand at Safeco Field for the Seattle Mariners first home game against the Oakland A’s at 7:10 p.m. The also two teams will meet up before crowds of 20,000 on Saturday at 6:10 p.m. and 19,000 on Sunday at 1:10 p.m. Also on Saturday, April 14, at 1 p.m., 34,000 soccer enthusiasts will show up at the CenturyLink Field for the Seattle Sounders match against the Colorado Rapids. Motorists can expect heavy traffic before and after the events in the area surrounding the stadiums.
On Sunday morning, 5,000 people will take part in the “Walk for MS.” Starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Hec Edmunson Pavilion on the University of Washington campus, the walkers will head to Gas Works Park and back using the Burke-Gilman Trail. During the return portion, the participants will also use the westbound lane of N Northlake Way between Meridian Avenue N and Second Avenue NE (the eastbound lane will remain open for local access). Expect congestion in the area.
