The contractor working for the Seattle Department of Transportation on the Spokane Street Viaduct Widening Project (at the eastern end of the West Seattle Bridge) will be implementing a number of overnight closures or lane reductions over the coming week. All of these begin at 9 p.m. and finish at 5 a.m. the following morning. The closures for the Fauntleroy Expressway (from 35th SW to the Delridge ramps at the western end of the West Seattle Bridge) were announced previously.
Friday, February 10
The eastbound travel lanes of the Spokane Street Viaduct and lower Spokane Street will be closed Friday night from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Saturday morning. The First Avenue S off-ramp will remain open during the closure. Motorists wishing to access the I-5 ramps or Columbian Way South will be detoured north to S Lander Street, where they will be directed to turn east to Sixth Avenue S, at which point they will turn south and proceed to S Spokane Street, where they can access the I-5 ramps or Columbian Way.
Monday, February 13
The eastbound travel lanes of the Spokane Street Viaduct will be closed east of the First Avenue S off-ramp, from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Traffic coming from the First Avenue S off-ramp will be detoured eastbound on lower S Spokane Street to either Fourth Avenue S or to the I-5 ramps or Columbian Way S.
First Avenue S will be closed at the north side of the intersection with S Spokane Street overnight from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Northbound traffic will be detoured at S Spokane Street to Fourth Avenue S. Southbound traffic will be detoured at S Hanford Street.
Monday, February 13 – Tuesday, February 14
Fourth Avenue S will be reduced to one lane in each direction at the intersection with S Spokane Street overnight from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. both nights.
Tuesday, February 14 – Friday, February 17
The eastbound lanes of the Spokane Street Viaduct will reduced to one lane between the SR99 off-ramp and Fourth Ave nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. The First Avenue off-ramp will be closed. The Fourth Avenue S Loop ramp will remain open, providing access to north or southbound travel on Fourth Avenue S.
Eastbound lower S Spokane Street will be closed between East Marginal Way S and Fourth Avenue S each night from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.
First Avenue S at the intersection with S Spokane Street will be closed each night from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. Southbound traffic will be detoured at S Hanford Street, while northbound traffic will be detoured east on S Dawson Street to Fourth Avenue S.
Saturday, February 18 – Sunday, February 19
First Avenue S will be closed at the intersection with S Spokane Street both nights from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. Eastbound lower S Spokane Street traffic will be allowed to continue east through the intersection. Northbound traffic will be detoured east at S Spokane Street to Fourth Avenue S. Southbound traffic on First Ave S will be detoured at S Hanford St.
