Crews from the Seattle Department of Transportation plan to continue work on the Cowen Park Bridge (15th Ave NE between NE 58th Street to NE 62nd St) until February 3. They will close the southbound, right lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to remove concrete spalls on the underside of the bridge. However, the crews will not close the lane on Monday, January 30.
This schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions or in the event that crews are called to perform emergency work at another location.
The crews are repairing concrete spalls on the underside of the bridge using a large piece of equipment called a “UBIT” (“under bridge inspection truck”). An arm on the UBIT swings under the bridge, enabling the crews to reach the area needing repairs. (See photos of the UBIT at work at http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/bridgeinfo.htm
This work is subject to change in the event crews are called to perform other unplanned emergency work.
