The contractor working for the Seattle Department of Transportation on the Spokane Street Viaduct Widening Project will close East Marginal Way S to through traffic, both northbound and southbound, at S Spokane Street this coming Sunday through Tuesday, January 8-10, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.
Motorists traveling southbound on East Marginal Way S wishing to turn right onto S Spokane Street and cross the West Seattle Swing Bridge will still be able to do so during the closures.
Northbound traffic on East Marginal Way S will drive east on S Spokane Street to proceed north at First Avenue South. Southbound traffic will drive west on S Spokane St to Klickitat Avenue SW on Harbor Island and then follow detour signs to turn around and head east up and over the new East Marginal Way Grade Separation structure. This detour will direct drivers back to East Marginal Way S to continue southbound. The pedestrian and bicycle path will remain open.
Northbound traffic at the same location will also be closed next Wednesday and Thursday, January 11 and 12, as well as on Sunday, January 15. These three closures will also run from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.
