A contractor working for the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) will begin Wednesday, September 21 preparing to pave Rainier Avenue South between South Austin Street and South Cloverdale Street. From Wednesday to Friday, September 21 to 23, the contractor will grind and remove the top asphalt layer of the roadway surface, working from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. If weather permits, the roadway will be paved on Saturday, October 1.
During construction traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. On-street parking and loading will be restricted at times. There will be short-term driveway restrictions and some pedestrian detours. Access to all businesses will be maintained. Police officers will assist traffic.
This project is part of SDOT’s annual paving program and is funded by the Bridging the Gap transportation levy approved by Seattle voters in November 2006.
