The contractor working to widen the Spokane Street Viaduct will close East Marginal Way South at South Spokane Street overnight, August 22, and will close the State Route 99 off-ramp to Harbor Island overnight, August 23-25. The East Marginal Way intersection work begins at 11 p.m. Monday and wraps up by 5 a.m. Tuesday, August 23. Work on the Harbor Island off-ramp begins at 10 p.m. each night, and also wraps up by 5 a.m. the next morning.
During the work on East Marginal Way, traffic will be rerouted as follows: southbound motorists will be detoured south on First Avenue South to the First Avenue South Bridge; northbound vehicles will be rerouted northbound on First Avenue South.
Meanwhile, the contractor will not close the westbound lanes of the Spokane Viaduct tonight as originally planned. This work will be rescheduled.
