The University Bridge will be closed to all motor vehicle traffic to Fuhrman Avenue East on Saturday, August 20 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting. One side of the bridge will remain open to pedestrians and bicyclists. Paving crews from the Seattle Department of Transportation will resurface the south approach (the raised roadway leading to the south end of the bridge)
In the unlikely event that the need for more extensive repairs is discovered once the old surface is removed, the work may need to continue on Sunday, August 21, and the bridge will continue to be closed to motor vehicles. In this case both walkways will remain open and the Lake Union 10k race on Sunday will use the western walkway. The signed detour will direct traffic to the Montlake Bridge.
