A contractor working for the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) will grind and remove the top layer of asphalt pavement on Rainier Avenue South between South Walden Street and South Alaska Street on August 10 to 12.
Weather permitting, on Saturday, August 13, the contractor will pave Rainier Avenue South from South Genesee Street to South Alaska Street. The remaining roadway sections between South Genesee and South Walden streets will be paved on Saturday, August 20 and Saturday, August 27.
The planned work will take place between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction near the work zone during construction. Left turns will be restricted at times and there will be loading and parking restrictions. There will be short-term driveway restrictions and some pedestrian detours. Access to all businesses will be maintained.
This project is funded by the Bridging the Gap transportation levy approved by Seattle voters in November 2006.
