On Thursday, July 7th and Friday, July 8th the Seattle Department of Transportation’s contractor will be repave Ellis Avenue South and South Albro Place between East Marginal Way South and Stanley Avenue South. The planned work hours are 7 p.m. each evening until 5 a.m. the next morning.
During this work, southbound traffic on S Albro Place and Ellis Avenue S will have one lane open between Stanley Avenue S and East Marginal Way. Northbound traffic on Ellis Avenue S and S Albro Place between E Marginal Way and Stanley Avenue S will be detoured during work hours. The signed detour route will take drivers over I-5, circling back to Albro.
There will be parking and loading restrictions near the work zone as well as temporary cross street and driveway interruptions (2-4 hours). Uniformed police officers and flaggers will be on site to keep vehicles moving.
Soon after the asphalt paving is complete, the contractor will apply permanent traffic markings.
Also, this week the contractor began a second phase of construction on East Marginal Way South, from Elllis Avenue to the Seattle/Tukwilla city limits. East Marginal Way is reduced to one lane in each direction except during afternoon peak commuting hours. This week the contractor is mobilizing equipment, surveying, and beginning base repair. Work on East Marginal Way will be completed in September.
This project is funded by the Bridging the Gap transportation levy approved by Seattle voters in November 2006.
