The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) has arranged to have a herd of goats clear overgrowth from the slope on both sides of the Pine Street Hill Climb off of Alaskan Way near the Pike Place Market. The fence to contain the goats will be set up and the goats let to graze on the hill on the afternoon of Monday, June 20.
The work is expected to take up to five days. The Pine Street Hill Climb stairway may be closed during this operation.
The goats worked last year at the same location. They are able to reach areas that are too steep for SDOT crews or equipment to safety access. The service is provided by Rent a Ruminant, www.rentaruminant.com
