On Monday, May 9th a contractor working for the Seattle Department of Transportation will begin to grind and remove the existing asphalt pavement on NE 55th Street between 25th Ave NE and 22nd Ave NE. This work will take from two to three days.
During this work, one travel lane in each direction will remain open on NE 55th Street. A uniformed police officer and flaggers will be on site to keep vehicles moving. There will be parking and loading restrictions near the work zone as well as periodic cross street and driveway interruptions.
Once asphalt removal (grinding) is complete, the contractor will make any needed repairs to NE 55th Street’s base pavement. Final paving is scheduled to take place in late May. Shortly after, paving crews will apply new traffic markings
This project is funded by the Bridging the Gap transportation levy approved by Seattle voters in 2006.
