Expect Heavy Traffic in SODO Area
Today, April 12, from 9:30 a.m. to approximately 12:30 p.m., some 2,500 students will attend National Geographic Live! lectures at Benaroya Hall. The students will arrive and depart on buses that will be waiting on streets adjacent to the hall located at 200 University Street. Seattle Police will be on hand to direct student crossings; expect congestion in the vicinity until after 1 p.m.
Also today, at 7:10 p.m., the Mariners take on the Toronto Blue Jays in front of a crowd of 13,000. Motorists should expect heavier traffic in the vicinity of Safeco Field before and after the game.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, April 13, a crowd of over 12,500 is expected to attend the 12:40 p.m. afternoon game between the Mariners and the Blue Jays. Unusually heavy traffic can be expected in the SODO area surrounding the stadium starting around 11:30 a.m. up to game time and after the game just as the afternoon commute is getting underway around 4 p.m. To ease traffic congestion, the Seattle Department of Transportation encourages drivers to consider taking alternate modes of transportation – Metro Transit, the Sounder commuter train, Link light rail, car pool, bicycle or walk, if feasible.
