The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) will repave a section of the Airport Way South and South Dearborn Street and Fifth Avenue South intersection this Saturday. Weather permitting, the work will take place between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. on April 16th. To complete the work, the following lane and street closures will be in place:
• Airport Way South will be closed between Sixth Avenue South and Fourth Avenue South
• South Dearborn Street will be closed between 5th Avenue South and Sixth Avenue South
• Fifth Avenue South will be closed at South Dearborn Street. All southbound vehicles must turn right (westbound) onto Airport Way South
• Interstate 90 South Dearborn Street ramp will be closed
Detour routes will be clearly posted (also see attached map). Police officers will be on site to keep traffic moving. Pedestrian access will be maintained, with some crosswalks closed and pedestrians detoured.
This work nearly completes the Airport Way South Phase II paving project that runs from South Royal Brougham Way to South Dearborn Street. The project was due to wrap up late last year but inclement weather and unforeseen circumstances impacted the schedule. Remaining tasks, following Saturday’s planned construction, include striping the roadway.
This project is funded by the “Bridging the Gap” transportation levy approved by Seattle voters in November 2006.
