National Geographic Live! student lectures will taking place at Benaroya Hall tomorrow, Tuesday, March 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Approximately 2,500 students will be arriving and departing from 40 buses that will be on streets adjacent to Benaroya Hall which is located on the block between Second and Third avenues and Union and University streets. Seattle Police will assist students crossing the streets. Motorists should anticipate congestion in the vicinity from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Tomorrow evening at 6:30 p.m., the Seattle Sounders will play their Opening Day match against the Los Angeles Galaxy before a crowd of 34,000. At 5:30 p. m., the ritual pre-match rally will be held at Occidental Park in Pioneer Square three blocks north of Qwest Field. Around 6 p.m. the Sounders FC official band, Sound Wave, will lead the traditional “March to the Match” procession from the Square. As many as 1000 fans will march out of the Square, cross King Street and head south down Occidental Avenue to Qwest Field. Marchers will stay on the sidewalk and are not expected to interfere with the afternoon traffic on Occidental, however, congestion should be expected before and after the match around Qwest Field. Seattle Police will be on hand to direct traffic.
