WSDOT News Release
Jan. 24, 2011
SEATTLE – Drivers can expect nightly closures this week of First Avenue S. and the State Route 99 on- and off-ramps near Seattle’s stadiums.
Monday, Jan. 24 to the morning of Saturday, Jan. 30 – Crews will close First Avenue S. between S. King Street and S. Royal Brougham Way, along with the southbound SR 99 off-ramp to First Avenue S. and the northbound SR 99 on-ramp from First Avenue S. from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly.
During the closures crews will continue building a new off-ramp that will extend to S. Royal Brougham Way. This week’s work includes setting concrete bridge deck segments. The ramp is scheduled to open later this winter.
The ramp work is part of a $476 million project to replace the seismically vulnerable Alaskan Way Viaduct between S. Holgate Street and S. King Street with a safer side-by-side roadway. To learn more about this project, go to www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/SR99/HolgateToKing.
