Work on transit improvements planned for this weekend on Rainier Avenue South and Martin Luther King, Jr. Way South has now been rescheduled for the following weekend of January 29. At that time, the southbound, right turn lane on Rainier at Martin Luther King will remain closed. Also, an additional southbound lane on Rainier will be closed during the weekend and for a 48 hour period during the week of January 31 to replace the traffic signal pole. SDOT expects to complete work at this location and reopen all of the lanes by the middle of February, weather permitting.
The Rainier Avenue South transit corridor improvement project includes new pedestrian signals, repainted crosswalks near bus stops, better street lighting, and new concrete curb and sidewalk extensions at bus load zones.
