Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) crews are working to remove 25 trees which are down across the 5400 block of W Marginal Way S just south of Puget Street. Traffic is being detoured off of W Marginal between Highland and S Spokane Street. The crews are working to open two lanes by noon; however, it could take most of the day to remove all the trees and open all lanes at that location. Local business access is being maintained.
SDOT is also on the scene of a mud slide on Riviera Place between N 125th and N 127th. The department is evaluating the situation along with Seattle Police and the Seattle Parks Department. SDOT will be clearing the mud from Riviera Place at N 127th, while the two other departments deal with other more significant problems of wires down and mud impacting a home near the water.
As a precaution, last night SDOT blocked off the 6000 block of Beach Drive due to slope stability issues and now with the morning light, department engineers are assessing the situation more fully. Also due to safety concerns, SDOT closed Lake Dell Avenue between the addresses of 175 – 265 Lake Dell Avenue until the slope at that location could be evaluated in the Monday morning daylight.
