The Sounds of the Holidays Are Starting!
The sounds of the season will be in the air tomorrow night, Friday, December 3, when the 24th Annual Great Figgy Pudding Street Corner Caroling Competition takes place in downtown Seattle. Saturday morning a religious procession will make its way to the Saint James Cathedral and Sunday the Seahawks will take on the Panthers at Qwest Field. The events could produce heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic, so motorists should plan their travels accordingly to avoid the potential congestion.
Friday, December 3
24th Annual Great Figgy Pudding Street Corner Caroling Competition: 5:45 – 9 p.m.
Westlake Center Plaza and surrounding sidewalks
Street closed 5:45 – 9 p.m. : Pine Street between Third and Seventh avenues, and Fifth Avenue between Olive Way and Pike Street; expect heavy traffic and pedestrian congestion in the area.
Saturday, December 4
Our Lady of the Americas Religious Procession: 11 a.m.
St. Mary Church
Procession route: Starts at Saint Mary Church at 20th Avenue S and S Weller Street; heads north on 20th to E Fir Street; then west on Fir to 12th Avenue; north on 12th to Cherry Street; west on Cherry to James Street; west on James to Ninth Avenue; north on Ninth to Columbia Street; Seattle Police will escort.
Sunday, December 5
Seattle Seahawks versus the Carolina Panthers: 1:15 – 4 p.m.
Plan on traffic congestion around the stadium before and after the game and on nearby I-5, I-90 and the Alaskan Way Viaduct.
