Lane closures and parking restrictions on Rainier Avenue South in two locations — at South Brandon Street and at South Holden Street — may start as early as Thursday, October 28 as the Seattle Department of Transportation continues to make improvements for Metro Bus Route # 7. These closures will be in effect 24-hours a day, seven days a week, for six to eight weeks.
The southbound curb lane on Rainier Avenue South at South Holden Street will be closed both north and south of Holden and on-street parking will be restricted in the same area. Holden will be closed west of Rainier Avenue South.
The northbound curb lane on Rainier Avenue South will be closed both north and south of South Brandon Street, and on-street parking will be restricted on Rainier Avenue South in the same area. Brandon east of Rainier Avenue South will be open to eastbound traffic only, and parking will be restricted on Brandon east of Rainier.
Local businesses will be open during construction and SDOT encourages the community to stop and shop.
This work is part of a larger street improvement project for Bus Route #7 along South Jackson Street and along Rainier Avenue South. The improvements will create better waiting areas for bus passengers and will improve bus travel time.
