A contractor working for the Seattle Department of Transportation will begin work next week to install a new traffic signal at the intersection of First Avenue S and S Massachusetts Street. The signal will help manage traffic changes for the construction of the Alaskan Way Viaduct and Seawall Replacement Program.
The project will include concrete removal and restoration of the sidewalks and roadway pavement on all four corners of the intersection. Pedestrian signal poles and a signal controller cabinet will be installed. The work will be completed by mid November.
