The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) has rescheduled the paving of Cherry Street due to inclement weather. SDOT’s contractor now plans to close Cherry Street to traffic between First and Second avenues and Second and Third avenues on Thursday night, September 30, weather permitting.
SDOT’s contractor will start paving between 10 p.m. and midnight and will conclude by 6 a.m. on Friday. Police Officers and traffic flaggers will be on site to assist traffic. There will be periodic cross street and driveway interruptions.
Pavement markings will be completed by the end of the month. During pavement marking there will be some temporary parking and loading zone restrictions.
When finished, travel lanes on this one-way section of Cherry Street will be widened from First to Fourth avenues and a bike lane on the south side will replace one of the general-purpose lanes.
