16th Avenue SW from SW Brandon to SW Dawson streets near the South Seattle Community College reopened for two-way traffic on Saturday, September 25. The contractor working for the Seattle Department of Transportation has finished paving the street, but some work remains including striping (likely to be done tomorrow, weather permitting) and the installation of speed bumps. Traffic will not be detoured for the remaining work; when needed, a traffic flagger will assist drivers through the area.
The project included:
• Reconstructing the roadway, making for a much smoother and safer street;
• Building a new sidewalk and curb on the west side of the street;
• Installing a new storm water detention system to improve storm drainage capacity.
