Many events taking place with the potential for creating traffic delays
You know fall is near when the it’s time for the Wurst weekend in Wallingford, the Husky Stadium is packed with Husky football fans, and the big Boats Afloat Show sails into South Lake Union. Today through Sunday, September 16 – 19, there are celebrations of every kind taking place around Seattle. The Seattle Department of Transportation urges motorists heading out for the events to help reduce traffic congestion and pollution by taking one of the many alternate modes of transportation available – Metro Transit, the Seattle Streetcar, the Sounder commuter train, Link light rail, car pool, bicycle or walk, if feasible.
Thursday, September 16
Seattle Boats Afloat Show: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

John T. Williams Memorial March and Rally: 2 – 4:30 p.m. 500 participatants
The march will start at Boren Avenue and Howell Street; head north on Boren to Virginia Street; then west on Virginia; stop at the Seattle Police Department West Precinct on Virginia at Eighth Avenue; continue west on Virginia to Fifth Avenue; turn left at Fifth and move south on Fifth to City Hall. Police will escort. Memorial will likely impact traffic throughout downtown and in particular, the afternoon commute.

Special Note re possible Seattle Storm WNBA Championship:
If the Storm wins the championship, a victory celebration parade will take place at 6:30 p.m. on one of these potential dates depending on the game win: Friday, September 17, Monday, September 20, or Wednesday, September 22.
The team will exit the Space Needle turn-around at Fourth Avenue N Broad Street, head south on Broad to Denney, turn right onto Denny and moves west on Denny to First Avenue N; goes north on First to Harrison Street back to the Key Arena . The unknowns are 1) the number of fans that will line the streets and 2) if those fans will follow the team into the street to proceed to Key Arena. Seattle Police will escort.
