SDOT and its contractor plan to repave Virginia Street between First Avenue and Westlake Avenue, working on Saturday, August 7 and at night on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 10 and 11.
To prepare for paving, the contractor will work on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. repairing the concrete street base in areas that are in poor condition.
Weather permitting, crews will pave the street during the nights of Tuesday and Wednesday, August 10 and 11 between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
On Saturday as well as on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, Virginia Street between First and Westlake avenues will be limited to one eastbound lane. There will be parking and loading restrictions on Virginia Street and its cross streets. Sidewalks will remain open. Uniformed police officers will be on site to keep vehicles moving.
On Tuesday and Wednesday nights there will also be periodic cross street, alley and driveway interruptions and possible side-street lane closures.
After street paving, crews will apply new traffic markings and street channelization.
