Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Company (BNSF) will continue preliminary work for installing additional railroad crossing gates on Vine Street and on Wall Street, both at Alaskan Way. One street at a time will be closed at Alaskan Way to all vehicle, pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
Wall Street will be closed from Monday, July 12th from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Vine Street will be closed from Tuesday July 13th from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Seattle Department of Transportation contracted with BNSF for this work to meet federal requirements for retaining the Waterfront “Quiet Zone” in which the use of train horns is limited to emergencies only. The whistle ban applies to the rail crossings at Broad, Clay, Vine and Wall streets.
