The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) has completed most of the pedestrian improvement project at Fifth Avenue NE and NE 112th Street. The project wrapped up ahead of schedule, enabling SDOT’s contractor to fully open both streets at 2:30 p.m. today, prior to today’s afternoon traffic peak.
The project was designed to enhance safety and create a more pedestrian-friendly street, including new stamped concrete crosswalks. Crews also installed a landscaped median, improved the planting strip, and added a new sidewalk and curb adjacent to the new Urban Center Park. Later this year, landscaping and new street trees will be planted.
