WSDOT Traffic Advisory
Northwest Region – 206-440-4697
June 21, 2010
Nighttime drivers planning to use northbound Interstate 5 in downtown Seattle should give themselves extra time to reach their destination as crews working for Sound Transit wrap up their project to prepare the ground beneath I-5 to make way for the tunnel boring machine that they will use to construct the 3.15-mile light rail tunnel extension between downtown Seattle and the University of Washington.
Crews will close the on-ramp from Cherry Street to northbound I-5 and the northbound I-5 exit to Olive Way tonight, Monday, June 21 at 8 p.m. Both ramps will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning. During the closure crews will place permanent striping and perform other construction work.
The striping work is weather dependent and the closures may be rescheduled if there is inclement weather.
