Motorists should plan for possible delays
SEATTLE – Seattle’s annual summer events get into full swing this weekend, Friday, June 18 through Sunday, June 20. The Fremont Solstice Parade and the Fremont Fair promise to bring exceptionally heavy traffic throughout and beyond the Fremont District on Saturday and Sunday. In addition, on Sunday, thousands of people will walk, run and bike in the LiveStrong Challenge fund raiser for the fight against cancer, while thousands of people and their pets will be walking and running in the Furry 5 K to raise dollars for the Seattle Animal Shelter. Those are just a few of the large events occurring over the weekend. For a more complete list and details, please see the schedule below.
The Seattle Department of Transportation encourages motorists headed to the activities to help reduce traffic congestion by taking one of the many alternate modes of transportation available – the Sounder commuter train, Link light rail, Metro Transit, car pool, bicycle or walk, if feasible.
