All lanes of traffic are now open on a newly rebuilt Fourth Avenue, from South Jackson Street to Olive Way, approximately one month ahead of schedule. Much of the roadway was last replaced in 1937, even though the usual life span of concrete panels is about 40 years. The project which started last fall included digging down to the original dirt in some areas and totally rebuilding the street from the base up. Pavement on Fourth Ave from Royal Brougham all the way north to Denny Way is now all repaired or rehabilitated as a result of a series of projects over the past two years. This heavily traveled roadway is now set to last several decades into the future.
