Note: The closures announced below have been canceled for this week and will be rescheduled.
Previous announcement
SDOT’s contractor for demolition on the Mercer Street Corridor project will work at night next week, May 10 to May 14, to complete work that is close to the roadway. Up to three of Mercer’s four lanes between Terry Avenue North and Fairview Avenue North will be closed to allow the contractor to perform shoring work needed to complete building demolition. Lanes will typically be closed from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. There will also be temporary sidewalk closures and parking restrictions.
Crews will remove remaining walls and foundations at 1104 Mercer Street (old Taco Del Mar) and 1000 Mercer Street (old West Marine). Once all demolition work is completed, these areas will be used to build additional lanes for Mercer Street and Fairview Avenue North.
Drivers are asked to drive slowly and to keep a safe distance from construction activity and equipment.
