SDOT and its contractor are upgrading sidewalks and streets near several bus stops on Third Avenue in the Belltown neighborhood.
The contractor will start working on Third Avenue between Bell and Blanchard streets on Wednesday, April 28, to widen the sidewalk and install new concrete street panels. Weather permitting, work at this location will be completed in approximately four weeks. The contractor is continuing work on Third between Cedar and Vine streets, to be completed by mid May.
The crews are working Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. They will also work 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 1 to remove the existing street panels between Bell and Blanchard.
One lane in each direction on Third Avenue is being maintained at all times. There are parking and loading restrictions in and around the work zone.
The sidewalk on the west side of Third Avenue is closed and detours posted. Pedestrian access to local businesses is being maintained.
Traffic control measures are in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week until this work is complete.
This project is funded by the “Bridging the Gap” transportation levy approved by Seattle voters in November 2006.
