SDOT and its contractor are upgrading sidewalks and streets near several bus stops on Third Avenue in the Belltown neighborhood.
Starting on Friday, April 16, the contractor will widen the sidewalk and install new concrete street panels on the west side of Third Avenue between Cedar Street and Vine Street. Weather permitting, this work will be completed by May 14.
The work will take place Monday through Friday, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. The contractor will also work 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 17 to remove the existing street panels.
One lane in each direction on Third Avenue will be maintained at all times. There will be parking and loading restrictions in and around the work zone.
The sidewalk on the west side of Third Avenue will be closed and detours posted. Pedestrian access to local businesses will be maintained.
Traffic control measures will be in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week until this work is complete.
This project is funded by the “Bridging the Gap” transportation levy approved by Seattle voters in November 2006.
