Plan for street construction when going downtown or to the SODO this weekend. This is the last chance for crews to get work done before the Mariners Baseball season starts on Monday. In the neighborhoods, there will be street closures in four communities on different days, allowing 20 street bands in the Honk! Fest West to sound off and involve the public in some musical fun.
Virginia Street; Third Avenue,
Friday, April 9 to Monday, April 12
Virginia Street, between Second and Fourth avenues will be closed to through traffic from as early as 7 p.m. Friday and continuing to 4:30 a.m. Monday for city paving and electrical work. Also, Third Avenue will be closed from Lenora Street and Stewart Street will also be closed to through traffic during the same time. Access to destinations within the area will be permitted. This work is dependent on favorable weather.
Seneca Street
Sunday, April 11, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
SDOT crews will close the eastbound bus-only lane, and the westbound left lane will be restricted to bus use. The crews will repair an areaway (vacant space under the sidewalk) and the sidewalk above after it was excavated for work on underground utilities.
Pine Street
Saturday, April 10
A private contractor will close Pine Street between Second and Third avenues on Saturday from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m. so a crane can work safely.
Fourth Avenue
Friday, April 9 to Sunday, April 11
SDOT paving crews will work on the west side of the intersection at Fourth and Pike from 8 p.m. Friday to late Sunday. Two lanes will remain open on Fourth, and one lane will remain open on Pike.
This work requires favorable weather.
Alaskan Way South
Friday, April 9 to Monday, April 11
Alaskan Way South will be closed for WDOT paving from South Massachusetts to South Atlantic Street from 7 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
South Royal Brougham Way
through Monday, April 12
Both directions of South Royal Brougham Way just east of the Qwest Parking Garage entrance will remain closed around the clock to through traffic while crews working for WSDOT build a bridge for vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists along South Royal Brougham Way. The bridge will open to traffic mid-day on Monday, April 12.
Airport Way South
Saturday, April 10 to Monday, April 12
A contractor working for SDOT will close the southbound lanes on Airport Way South between South Royal Brougham Way and South Atlantic Street from 7 a.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Monday morning for paving.
Montlake Boulevard and Montlake Bridge
Saturday, April 10 to Sunday, April 11
Crews will close lanes from 8 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday in front of Hec Edmundson Pavillion for duct bank construction and surface restoration.
On Saturday, WDOT crews will close the northbound, right lane of the bridge for inspection. On Sunday, crews will close the right, southbound lane, also for inspection.
Honk! Fest West
