Wednesday, March 24 and possibly Thursday, March 25, Virginia Street will be reduced to one eastbound lane between Sixth Avenue and Fairview Avenue, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., for asphalt removal (pavement grinding).
Once grinding is complete, crews will make repairs to the underlying roadway base before repaving next month.
The westbound traffic lanes on Virginia Street (Boren Avenue to Eighth Avenue) will be closed. Detour routes will be posted.
There will be nighttime parking and loading restrictions in and around the work zone, as well as periodic cross-street, alley and driveway interruptions.
During this work the project team will do its best to minimize impacts to surrounding businesses and residents.
Uniformed police officers and flaggers will also be on site to keep vehicles moving.
This project is funded by the “Bridging the Gap” transportation levy approved by Seattle voters in November 2006.
