A paving contractor working for the Seattle Department of Transportation plans to reduce Virginia Street between Ninth and Terry avenues to one lane from Monday, March 8 to Thursday, March 18, seven days a week and 24 hours a day. On-street parking and loading along Virginia Street will be restricted near the work zone. The bus stop will be temporarily relocated. (For information or questions about transit service, please call Metro Transit customer service, 206-553-3000, or visit Metro Transit online, http://www.Kingcounty.gov/metro. )
The contractor will install concrete panels on the south side of Virginia Street in areas that are heavily used by transit. Between Ninth and Terry avenues a 100-foot section of the existing asphalt street pavement will be removed and concrete panels installed. Anticipated work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
This work is a part of SDOT’s downtown street paving program, funded in part by the Bridging the Gap transportation levy approved by Seattle voters in November 2006.
