SDOT is making improvements to several arterial streets in downtown Seattle. As part of this work, a new Seattle City Light electric duct bank will be installed along Virginia Street to improve power distribution in downtown.
Starting Monday, February 8th, weather permitting, Virginia Street, between First and Third avenues will have lane closures and parking restrictions. During the nighttime hours a minimum of one lane will remain open at all times. During daytime hours a minimum of two lanes will remain open.
The contractor will work from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily and expects to complete this part of the work on Virginia by Friday, February 12th.
When working near an alley or crosswalk, access may be temporarily restricted and pedestrians and/or vehicle detours will be in place.
During this work the project team will do its best to minimize impacts to surrounding businesses and residents. Uniformed police officers and flaggers will be on site to keep traffic moving.
