Construction on Third Avenue from Virginia Street to Pine Street is scheduled for this weekend, January 23 and 24. Crews will replace concrete panels in the roadway. SDOT is making improvements to several arterial streets in Downtown Seattle, and, as part of this program, a number of deteriorating concrete panels will be replaced on Third Avenue.
Starting 8 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, weather permitting, Third Avenue will be closed to vehicles from Virginia Street to Pine Street. Between Pine Street and Pike Street, Third Avenue will have lane closures and parking restrictions.
Virginia, Stewart and Pine streets will remain open with minor lane restrictions approaching Third Avenue.
The contractor plans to reopen Third Avenue to traffic by 4 a.m., Monday, January 25th.
During this work the project team will do its best to minimize impacts to surrounding businesses and residents. Uniformed Police Officers and flaggers will be on site to assist pedestrians and keep traffic moving.
This project is funded by the “Bridging the Gap” transportation levy approved by Seattle voters in November 2006.
