Beginning Monday, December 14, SDOT’s paving contractor, who has been working on Fourth Avenue south of James Street, will shift to work on Fourth between James and Seneca streets. Traffic will be reduced to two lanes. Parking and loading restrictions will be in effect along both sides of Fourth Avenue. Drivers should expect delays as traffic moves through the construction zone.
During this first phase of work, crews will focus on the west side of the street only. This work will entail breaking and removing old concrete panels and pouring new concrete in the roadway. Crews will also repair parts of the roadway, sidewalks, and curb ramps. The contractor expects to continue working in this segment of Fourth Avenue until early spring.
SDOT project staff will work to keep construction impacts to a minimum and appreciates the patience of drivers and pedestrians during this important project on heavily-traveled Fourth Avenue.
