Tonight the 5th Avenue Theater marquee will light up anew and tomorrow night carolers competing in the annual Great Figgy Pudding Street Corner Caroling Competition will sing their hearts out in the Westlake Mall area. Saturday the University of Washington Huskies take on the California Bears, and on Sunday the Seattle Seahawks face the San Francisco 49rs. The Seattle Department of Transportation encourages motorists heading for the events to try alternate modes of travel such as taking the bus, Sounder, Link Rail, bicycling, carpooling or walking, if feasible.

Fifth Avenue will be closed between Union and University streets from 6 – 9 p.m.

Friday, December 4

Westlake Center Plaza and surrounding sidewalks; final sing-off on stage in Westlake Park

Streets closed 5:45 – 9 p.m.; Pine Street between Third and Seventh avenues, and Fifth Avenue from Olive Way to Pike Street; expect heavy traffic and pedestrian congestion in the area.
Husky Band Friday Night Rally and Procession: 8:55 – 10 p.m.
Husky band and supporters will follow a procession through Greek Row to rally support for Saturday’s game; Seattle Police will escort.
Saturday, December 5
Our Lady of the America Religious Procession: 11 a.m.
Procession is from Saint Mary Church to Saint James Cathedral
Expect a rolling slow down as procession moves along starting at 20th Avenue S and S Weller Street; heading north on 20th to E Fir Street; then west on Fir to 12th Avenue; north on 12th to Cherry Street; west on Cherry to James Street; west on James to Ninth Avenue; and north on Ninth to Columbia Street; SPD will escort.
University of Washington Huskies Versus University of California Bears 3:30 – 7 p.m.

Before and after the game, plan on heavy traffic on all major arterials surrounding Husky Stadium, on SR520 at Montlake, and on I-5 through the University District.

Before and after the game, expect congestion surrounding the stadium, on I-5, and on the Alaskan Way Viaduct.
