Construction begins this weekend at the intersection of Seventh Avenue NE and NE 40th Street adjacent to the Burke Gilman Trail. The project will improve the pedestrian and bicycle crossing at this location by removing the existing island and installing a new curb configuration and new access to the Burke Gilman Trail.
Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) and the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) will begin working at the site this weekend. Weather permitting, a SDOT crew will follow-up with concrete paving work next week.
During the work, a temporary ramp will be set up next to the construction site and pedestrians and bicyclists will be directed around the work area.
