Starting next week, the week of September 28, a contractor working for the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) will begin work on the Fourth Avenue resurfacing project which stretches from S Jackson Street to Olive Way. During Phase 1 of the project, traffic will be reduced to two travel lanes around-the-clock on Fourth Avenue between Jackson and James streets for the next several months (September to January), beginning next week.
In addition to lane closures, there will be temporary bus stop closures and transit disruptions, along with weekend cross street closures. Some night time work is expected, including saw cutting.
The entire project, which will extend into next summer, includes reconstructing most of Fourth Avenue between S Jackson and Seneca streets and replacing selected concrete panels on Fourth Avenue between Seneca Street and Olive Way.
