SDOT’s paving contractor plans to complete final paving and striping of First Avenue South between Stacy and Horton streets on Sept 8 to 11, from 9 p.m. until no later than 6 a.m. each night.
During these nights, First Ave S will be closed to all traffic. The cross streets (Stacy, Lander, Forest, Hanford and Horton) will also be closed at First Ave S.
Traffic on First Ave S will be detoured at Holgate and Horton streets to Fourth Ave S. Drivers may also opt to use East Marginal Way South as an alternate route. First Ave S will remain open to local access traffic at both ends of the construction zone, between Holgate and Stacy and between Horton and Spokane.
Once the final paving is completed, relatively minor construction work will remain requiring temporary closure of the curbside traffic lane in places. This finishing work is expected to take one week.
