SEATTLE— SDOT’s contractor will be working in the intersections of S Washington and S Main streets during the next three weeks to reconstruct a portion of Second Avenue Extension S.
Access to S Washington Street will be closed on the east side of Second Avenue Extension S this week (September 1-4), 24 hours per day, until the weekend when the street will be reopened. Traffic driving eastbound on S Washington Street, approaching Second Avenue Extension S, will be able to turn south (right) on Second Avenue Extension S but will not be able to cross. Second Avenue Extension S will be restricted to two lanes of traffic through the intersection.
Next week (September 7-11), construction crews will close access to S Main Street on the western side of Second Avenue Extension S for 24 hours per day until the weekend, and the following week (September 14-18), access to S Washington Street on the western side of Second Avenue Extension S will be closed 24 hours a day until the weekend.
SDOT’s contractor is completely reconstructing Second Avenue Extension S between S Washington Street and S Jackson Street over the next several months. There will be intermittent closures of S Main Street, Third Avenue S, and S Washington Street at Second Avenue Extension S with detours posted.
