The Seattle Department of Transportation’s contractor is grinding off the old asphalt on Second Avenue between Denny Way and Pike Street, and repairing the base of the roadway. Traffic will be reduced to one lane 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the next two weeks. The contractor will work day and night to repair the base of the roadway in preparation for overlaying a new asphalt surface. Final asphalt paving is tentatively scheduled to be done at night in mid-September.
