Second Avenue, Denny Way to Pike Street
Friday, Aug 28, and Monday and Tuesday, Aug 31-Sept 1, starting as early at 6 p.m. each night and until 6 a.m. the following day, Second Avenue will be reduced to one lane as SDOT’s contractor grinds and removes the old asphalt pavement. When the grinding is finished, the contractor will repair the concrete base for the next several weeks before final paving scheduled for mid-September.
Second Avenue Extension
From 2 a.m. Saturday, August 29 to late Sunday night (on or before midnight) August 30, Main Street will be closed at Second Avenue Extension. SDOT’s contractor will be working in the Main Street intersection to reconstruct a portion of Second Avenue Extension.
Traffic driving eastbound on Main Street will be able to turn south on Second Avenue Extension but will not be able to cross. A detour will be provided using Jackson, Fourth Avenue, Yesler Way, and Third Avenue. Traffic driving southbound on Third Avenue will be required to turn east at Main Street.
SDOT’s contractor will completely reconstruct Second Avenue Extension between Washington Street and Jackson Street during the next several months. There will be intermittent closures of Main Street, Third Avenue, and Washington Street at Second Avenue Extension with detours posted.
Fourth Ave at Main Street
For several hours Saturday morning August 29, Fourth Ave will be restricted to one lane through the Main Street intersection as crews remove test panels adjacent to the waterfront street car trolley tracks. This is in anticipation of fully replacing the failed rubberized crossing material when intersection is reconstructed later this fall.
