A contractor working for the Seattle Department of Transportation will close 16th Avenue SW to northbound traffic at SW Findlay Street (at the north end of South Seattle Community College) starting at 7 a.m. tomorrow, July 28, until early September. For motorists traveling north on 16th Avenue SW with destinations north of SW Findlay, the detour will begin at SW Austin St/Dumar Way SW/SW Orchard St and Delridge Way SW. There is no other through street north of SW Austin to allow traffic to get north of SW Findlay.
The contractor will reconstruct a section of pavement that is now in very poor condition on 16th Avenue SW between SW Findlay Street and SW Brandon Street. A portion of the street will be widened. Construction is expected to last six to eight weeks.
