SDOT’s contractor will work at night on Friday, July 10 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Second Avenue at Columbia Street and Marion Street, and again during the day on Saturday, July 11. Lanes on Columbia and on Marion will be closed at the intersection with Second Avenue when needed to complete work in these intersections.
Second Avenue will remain restricted to two lanes (the street is one-way southbound ) for the next four weeks. Starting Monday, July 13, SDOT’s paving contractor will shift work to the east side of Second Avenue between Pike Street and Washington Street. With traffic being restricted to two lanes and buses primarily traveling and stopping in the curb lane for passengers, only one lane will effectively be open to through traffic.
Work will progress on Second Avenue from north to south, from Pike Street to S Washington Street. Drivers are advised to use an alternate route.
